VICTORIA MCINTOSH

Artist statement & Bio
My work primarily focuses on significance of micro texture in nature. Micro texture is all around us. It’s in nature, found materials/objects, and even on our own skin. I find myself drawn to micro texture because of how close you must look; and if you don’t pay attention, you miss it. With being an artist, you’re always doing something to get something done or, you’re in such a hurry with everything you have on your plate, that you are just rushing through life. During Covid, for me like many others work came to a dead stop, after going fast for so long. It was during this time I clung to nature and took great lengths to breathe it all in. This led me to the discovery of different organic textures; a small intricate detail within each object in nature I found. Taking the time to dive deep and explore micro texture has really opened my eyes to the amount of details that we don’t see right away. I wonder if we ever overlook things because we’re too busy, and I asked myself what if I never had the moment to stopped and look?
